I’m Merrill Loechner, Founder of Smith Douglass Podcast Productions
A natural-born storyteller, I’ve spent the majority of my career in B2B marketing. I’ve worked primarily in fields where jargon was a problem – science, engineering, technology, law. Those positions have taught me how to translate complex ideas into engaging stories that customers, investors, and the press could understand and embrace.
As a corporate commuter, I listened to hours of podcasts every week. I quickly realized that podcasts offered an incredible format for businesses to take the time they needed to tell their stories in depth. I then reached out to my local Chamber of Commerce to suggest they start a podcast for their members. “Great idea!” they said, “Go start one!”. And that was my first podcast. Since then, I have been producing podcasts for multiple clients in the business community.
In 2017, I stepped away from the corporate world to start my own agency, bringing my storytelling and podcast expertise to smaller businesses, organizations, and non-profits that struggle to find the best ways to reach their audiences.
Where did the name Smith Douglass come from?
I named my agency after the two hardest working people I’ve known. Smith is my mother’s maiden name; Douglass was her mother’s maiden name. I’m a third generation of women who work.
